Fourth Day: Wari-Quinua, (6 hrs) Pikimachay – Huanta (6 hrs)

 

a.m.     After breakfast we will go to the City of Wari, located 22 Km. from the present-day city of Ayacucho at 2,830 m.a.s.l., was the political, administrative, religious, military and cultural centre of the empire. This city is remarkable for its well-established urban pattern, water supply, underground sewage system and pyramidal and trapezoidal contructions up three storeys high, the Site Museum, the main temple or Vegachayuq Moqo and the tombs of the nobility at Cheqowasi, then the Pampa de Ayacucho Historical Sanctuary, also known as Pampa de Quinua, which was the scene of the battle of Ayacucho, we will then visit Huanta, the beautiful “Emerald of the Americas”, we will visit the old market where the inhabitants of the many different ecological floors of the region still Exchange their respective products as they have always done, alter lunch we go the historic Cave of  Pikimachay, where the oldest human remains were found (15,000 years old) and finally to the amaizing Huatuscalla Canyon. Return to Huamanga.

Fifth Day: Vilcashuaman -Pomacocha – Puyas Raimondi (full day)

a.m.     After the breakfast so early we leave Huamanga to Vilcashuamán Inca City (5 Hrs) on the way we will see the magic Pumapaqcha waterfall and The Puya de Raimondi (to give it its scientific name) that is a species of bromeliad wich grows above 3,600 m.a.s.l. and can be up to 10 metres tall, continuing to the south we get Vischongo Town and we will know the mitic Pumapaqcha Lake, fifty minutes before arraiving at Vilcashuaman we will visit the archaeological complex of Pomacocha, the ceremonial temple, a tower, the Inca´s bath, a sacrificial stone and the house of the Inca´s chosen womem, finally Vilcashuaman, the second-most important Inca city after Cusco, that was built by the Inca Pachacutec to control the rebellious Chancas, who had recently been incorporated into the empire, and it was a provincial administrative, religious and strategically inportant millitary centre. Return to Huamanga.
